Work

The past two days I've had to sit through a workshop teaching teachers how to teach. This workshop would probably have been more effective had we taken it in our credential programs or if we had never taught before. The requirement to take the workshop? At least one year of teaching in the district!!! The world never ceases to amaze me.

Oh Internet

It doesn't work to start a blog if one does not have internet! Luckily, after days of withdrawals, internet has been reinstated. For some odd reason, my router decided to stop working. After numerous phone calls, the darn thing is working again.
I'm back, baby!

Awesome Video

Auto Tune the News has a series of well-done, clever videos. Here is one for your enjoyment.

Maiden Voyage

I have always toyed with the idea of creating a blog about my life, but thought no one would really be interested. Lately, those thoughts have changed. And really, who cares? This is going to be a place I can write poetry if I want, share tidbits of my life, and perhaps share some awesome recipes as I'm really getting into cooking.
I got married last month. It's crazy to think I am old enough to be married, but since I turn 30 later this year, it is the truth of the matter. Meshing families is not as easy as we had hoped. We have seen my husband's family a bunch since the wedding, and they want more of us! I could definitely use a family break. My family has not been the most supportive. Their emotions are like pendulums and I never know which side they will be on. Sometimes I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have all of their love and support, and other times it seems like they just can't stand to see me happy.
Six months ago my abusive ex (we were together for over five years) came back into my life. We have had some very healing talks and are on our way to being friends. But, can we seriously be friends if I am now married? Our phone calls are strained and odd. There have been some conversations that make me think we can make the leap to friendship, but I don't know. He was a much better friend than partner. Any thoughts???
In this economy especially, I am lucky to say I love my job. I am a teacher in a great school district. School starts in a few weeks and I can't believe it! How can I possibly go back to work when we haven't even finished setting up our home yet?
Speaking of home...the furniture comes this weekend! Yep. The sofa is 6 years old, stained, and actually a futon that was used for a bed for over a year. Time to be replaced! We - it's crazy that everything is we now - have living room furniture coming. It's too bad that we didn't get more done. We still have to figure out shelving and all of that. Today I put more of the bedroom together. Ah! It's gorgeous.
This is just the beginning and I can't wait to write more.
